Fun introduction to the sport of Adventure Racing for novices and the opportunity to practice for experienced racers.

- Navigate a 25km course while running, mountain biking and paddling
- A 10km course of running and paddling legs for those without mountain bikes
- Family friendly – we really encourage parents to bring the kids. You’ll be amazed at what they can accomplish!
- Approximately 16km of Mountain Biking, 7km of Trail Running/Hiking and 2km Paddling (on sit-on-top plastic kayaks, provided)
- Basic, easy to understand navigation via Google Earth image maps.
- Fastest team will finish in around 2 hours. Cut off 4 hours.

- Cumberland Nature Reserve – a 560 hectare Private Nature Reserve located to the east of Pietermaritzburg, KZN. There is a number of cottages and campsites available on the reserve – email Carolyn at info@cumberlandreserve.co.za to make a booking.
- Join us for a Bring ‘n Braai at the reserve’s picnic site after the event.

- Navigation – very basic – Google Earth image maps

- Running/Trekking – off trail, single track, jeep tracks
- Mountain Biking – single track, farm roads, jeep tracks
- Paddling – sit-on-top plastic kayaks – paddles and PFDs provided if you don’t have your own

- Estimated distance is 25km – expect approximately 2km paddling, 7km trekking/running, 16km MTB
- The fastest team will finish in around 2 hours, slower teams between 2-4 hours
- Finish cut off is 4 hours
- The course is designed to be child friendly should you wish to do it with your young ones.
- Transitions / support
- No support crew needed
- Trekking shoes/clothes will need to be carried on the mountain biking legs
- You will need to carry food / water for the whole event with you from the start

- Running and Mountain Biking gear
- Mountain Bike and helmet (not needed if doing just the Run/Paddle version)
- Backpack capable of taking your trekking shoes and water/food with you while on the MTB legs
- Cellphone – 1 per team (for emergency purposes)
